Hardwood Flooring Grade Swapping - continued

Hardwood Flooring has been around for many years. From old hand planed random planking to today's precision milling process. A lot has changed in the manufacturing of hardwood flooring. But one thing that has not changed is the lumber. A higher grade of lumber costs more, lower grades costs less. It is supply and demand.

The problem is when unscrupulous people come into the mix, and the popularity of hardwood floors has brought them out by the groves. The practice of grade swapping has become all too common. Selling cull lumber and calling it cabin grade or tavern grade or dark staining it to cover defects is what we are seeing. We have recently been able to view some of this bargain Internet flooring. It is what we call firewood. Our family has been involved in the manufacturing of hardwood flooring for many years, previous to this we were manufacturers of cabinetry and furniture. My grandfather was a simple carpenter, so this is not our first day. If some middleman is selling flooring for less than it takes us to manufacture it - look out. At some point the other shoe will drop.

We manufacture hardwood flooring outside a small town in Kentucky. After all, there are no forests in Atlanta or Chicago to get lumber from. For you in the lumber business, doesn't it make sense to live in the country, so if you ever get to South Central KY come by and see us; we'll give you some firewood and sell you Quality Hardwood Flooring.
