Installation of hardwood floors, like all things in life, is mostly common sense with a few tips. To start, nail guns - the best to use is an air stapler for prefinished flooring because it's easier to use and is less likely to damage during installation. Use felt, preferably 30 lb., under your hardwood flooring as a vapor barrier, never confine your hardwood tight between two points - all wood is animate. It will still breathe and needs room to do so. Leave a ¼" gap around your walls. This gap can be covered with baseboard. If laying hardwood floors over a crawl space, every home needs plastic on the ground as a moisture barrier. Whether you are laying carpet, hardwood, or anything else it's just a good practice as moisture is an enemy to all wood.
